GPI Celebrates International Day of the Girl All Week

Monday, October 8, 2012

As the world prepares to celebrate the first International Day of the Girl this week, Global Press Institute is dedicating the pages of its Newswire to stories about girls around the world.

GPI reporters from around the world came together to focus on girls in their communities. We are proud to feature more than dozen articles, photo essays and blogs this week that address the issues that the world's girls stuggle with everyday. From drug use and teen pregnancy to access to education, these stories are meant to inform. But at GPI we see International Day of the Girl as a time to also pause to celebrate progress. In that vein, we have featured stories about girls as changemakers, leaders, visionaries and advocates too. We hope this diverse array of topics will both inform and inspire people everywhere to continue to help girls raise their voices and ignite social change.  In partnership with the Girl Effect, GPI salutes girls everywhere.
