A strict curfew is in place in Srinagar and major towns of Indian

residents alleged was drowned after chased and beaten up by police and
paramilitary.

No newspapers in Srinagar were published Thursday, as government
imposed severe restrictions on the movement of journalists too.

Curfew passes of journalists were cancelled, and they were not allowed
to move out of their homes or offices.

Policemen snatched cameras and equipments from a few television
reporters and forced everyone indoors at the Press Colony, which
houses most media offices in Srinagar.

The restrictions soon after came the state government called in Indian
army Tuesday night to help implement a curfew in Srinagar and contain
protests.

Local media reports said 12 photojournalists covering a funeral
procession and protests were injured Tuesday when paramilitary Central
Reserve Police Force men barged on the procession.

Soon they turned their attention to journalists covering the procession.

Kashmir is in the grip of a vicious cycle of killings and protests.
