Imagine a place where ethical journalism and social entrepreneurship meet to produce global news that is bold, authentic and accurate.
Cristi Hegranes imagined such a place, and from that vision, Global Press Institute was created. Now, solutions-based reporting is being used as a tool for global transformation by empowering individuals, building stronger communities and raising global awareness.
Empowering Individuals...

Kalpana Bhusal is a member of the "untouchable caste" in Nepal. She is also a talented, professional reporter producing hard-hitting stories about an invisible community.
Since 2006, Global Press Institute has trained nearly 150 women in developing countries to be ethical, independent reporters producing responsible, solutions-based journalism from regions of the world that are invisible to mainstream media.
To Build Stronger Communities...
Gertrude Pswarayi is passionate about sexual justice in a place where sex is taboo and justice is elusive. Now, her passion has a place to take root. She is one of Global Press Institute's newest reporters, but is already examining human rights and human dignity from the complex culture of Zimbabwe. Her stories will help Zimbabwe become a stronger, more tolerant nation.
And Raise Global Awareness.
It isn't just women like Kalpana and Gertrude or countries like Zimbabwe and Nepal who benefit from Global Press Institute's programs. Our readers benefit from gaining access to news stories that are not covered adequately — if at all — by the mainstream media. Our work promotes global tolerance and understanding that transcend all borders.
We are transforming the world using journalism as a tool for development. Join us.
