The Mentors' Circle is a group of journalists, editors, advocates and writers who correspond, collaborate and connect with Global Press Institute Reporters. Join us!
While GPI editors and story coaches provide the nuts and bolts of the training process, GPI mentors are charged with ensuring that each woman completes her work with emotional and intellectual dignity and clarity.
Mentors and GPI reporters connect via e-mail, blogging and Skype to share ideas for story development and personal growth. Each month, mentors use Pixetell technology to create a video or voice message with feedback on an article or reporting issue the reporter tackled that month! (Mentors will receive a FREE Pixetell subscription!)
After a successful test pilot, a new round of mentorship pairings will begin Oct. 1!
What do you need to do?
First, you need to have about an hour a month to lend to e-mailing/Skyping with your mentee about her reporting process. Then, Mentors will use Pixetell to create a video or voice memo for your mentee with feedback on her latest story! (All in all, it's about a 90-minute monthly commitment!)

Why Mentor?
Our experience has shown that being supported and witnessed increases the probability that women in our program will complete the program, continue to grow professionally by taking informed risks, setting new goals, and achieving higher personal and professional standards. In turn, she will also be more likely to turn around and share her knowledge, wisdom and experience with her own mentee.
