Country Editor, Haiti
Description of GPI Haiti News Desk: GPI launched its first news desk in Haiti in January 2012. The desk, located in Jeremie, is staffed by 4 newly-trained reporters and one translator. In 2013, GPI will grow its Haiti initiative by adding a satellite office in Port au Prince. The country editor will be based in the new satellite office with 1-3 additional GPI reporters. Monthly visits to Jeremie are required.
Qualifications Required: Degree in Journalism, or professional experience equivalent
Experience practicing principled journalism in a local or global context
Prior teaching or mentorship experience
Strong understanding of journalistic principles, journalism basic skills
Experience in creating editorial calendars, projects and schedules
Experience with photography, camera basics and video technologies
Demonstrable experience coordinating programs, leading groups and facilitating projects
Fluent in written and spoken Creole and English
Editing experience in Creole and English
Strong commitment to the mission of Global Press Institute
