Unsafe Roads Receive Attention in Uganda

More than 2,000 Ugandans die in road accidents annually, and more than 10,000 are hurt, thanks to dangerous road conditions here. Reckless driving and a lack of road signs also contribute to accidents. But huge potholes are the most common cause of fatal accidents, as cars lose control while dodging them at high speeds. In an attempt to make roads safer, a new government project has initiated the repair of the main highways in Uganda. A photo essay.
