VI. Media Relations
The Press Institute recognizes that small businesses, corporations and nonprofit organizations often need help reaching out to local and national media outlets to get their stories heard in a fair and substantive way. We encourage a sound relationship between businesses and advocacy organizations and the press. The Press Institute offers several courses that help businesses and NGOs contact the media, give great interviews, and create organizational media messaging documents. VII. Media Literacy
Journalism education doesn't just mean training journalists. It also means training people to navigate the increasingly complicated realms of modern media.
Our flagship Media Literacy program targets middle school students in the United States. How the News is Made: Becoming a Critical Consumer of the News is a revolutionary program that teaches young people to filter their sources of information and create their own definitions of truth and trust for today's complex American media market.
